The last few weeks have been a busy one for the Streamflow team. On the back of successful partnerships with teams such as BONK, we have some new and exciting news to share. We’re thrilled to announce the launch of instant Airdrops and vested Airdrops for all Streamflow users.
What are airdrops?
Recently, airdrops have been all the rage! Essentially, they involve sending tokens to your wallets for engaging with certain projects or protocols during a specified period.
Reasons for conducting an airdrop include:
- Promotional Efforts: Projects use airdrops to boost awareness and draw in users, enhancing community involvement by distributing free tokens.
- Community Incentives: Tokens are often airdropped as thanks for your engagement and loyalty.
- Blockchain Forks: Following a fork, creating a new blockchain, original token holders may receive new tokens as an airdrop.
- Vampire Attacks: To attract users from an existing project, a forked protocol may offer airdrops, encouraging a switch by providing tokens.
- Airdrops usually require a “snapshot” of user activity to determine your share of the rewards. If you’ve met the airdrop criteria by the snapshot time—like buying, selling, or staking tokens—you’re eligible for the airdrop. You can then claim your tokens on the project’s website once the airdrop commences.
In the last few months, there have been some popular Airdrops that have used Streamflow’s infrastructure in the backend. For example the BONK project used Streamflow for its airdrops in 2023. With this launch, Streamflow has now added support for both instant and vested airdrops.
Streamflow makes Airdrops more easy than ever
With this latest launch, Streamflow now supports workflows for airdropping tokens directly to stakeholders, or depositing tokens into a smart contract that recipients can claim from. Customers can use both instant and vested airdrops. Airdrops on Streamflow are flexible and provide granular controls on scheduling, cliffs, clawbacks and cancelling. You can also use the Airdrop Claim API to easily host your claim experience in your own platform
Interested in getting started? It’s super easy.
Step 1 – Connect your wallet
Head over to Streamflow.finance and connect your wallet. You can skip this step if you have already used Streamflow and connected your wallet –
Step 2 – Create a new Airdrop
Select ‘Aidrops’ from the left navigation and then click on ‘Create New’.
Step 3 – Choose your Airdrop type
Streamflow supports two types of airdrops –
- Instant – Create an airdrop that instantly releases tokens to recipients
- Vested – Create an airdrop that gradually releases tokens to recipients after a certain period of time
For the purposes of this tutorial, I will use the ‘Instant’ Airdrop type.
Step 4 – Select your recipients
The primary purpose of an Airdrop is to distribute tokens to a set of recipients. Streamflow allows you to specify 30K recipients per Airdrop. For enterprise users, you can specify up to 1 million users. That’s right, 1 million!! Selecting recipients is as easy as uploading a CSV or selecting an existing collection. For this tutorial, we will use a CSV. Download the template provided by Streamflow and populate your recipients. Once populated, upload your CSV. Once uploaded, click ‘Next Step’
Step 5 – Select token to Airdrop and configure details
In this step, give your airdrop a name, select which token from your wallet you want to use for the Airdrop, select your start date and start time, choose whether you want to be able to make the Airdrop cancellable, and finally select how many tokens you want to setup for the Airdrop.
Step 6 – Review
Confirm that your Airdrop is setup correctly with the appropriate configuration
Step 7: Use your payment method
Streamflow supports several different options for payment. To learn more, go here. For the walkthrough, we will use the default.
Step 8: You are all set! Congratulations, you just created your first of many Airdrops on Streamflow.
